(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, March 1, 2021, through Monday, March 8, 2021, MPD detectives and officers recovered 35 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, March 2, 2021

  • A Browning Black Label 1911 .380 handgun was recovered in the 1800 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. CCN: 21-027-011
  • A Glock .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue, Northeast. CCN; 21-027-038
  • A Ruger LCP II .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of U Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 50-year-old Yasmin Boyum, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol while Impaired, Carrying a Licensed Pistol in a Prohibited Location, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.   • A SCCY CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 800 block of Barnaby Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Eric Alexander, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Receiving Stolen Property.   • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1500 block of 21st Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 37-year-old Sean Seung Kim, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Gun Registered To Business: Unsafe Storage or Carrying, and Manufacture or Possessing with Intent to Manufacture a Controlled Substance.   • A Ruger P90 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Howard Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Antonio Emmanuell Halfacre, of Northeast, D.C., for Fugitive from Justice, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Threat to Kidnap or Inure a Person, Unlawful Entry, and Felon in Possession.   • A Beretta 92FS 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 5100 block of Bass Place, Southeast. CCN: 21-027-268
  • A Ruger 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Christian Wagner, of Fredericksburg, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Fugitive from Justice, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. Wednesday, March 3, 2021

  • A Ruger LPC .380 caliber revolver was recovered in the 4800 block of Texas Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 43-year-old Donnell Emmitt Tucker, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A SCCY CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun, a .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun, a Ruger Prescott 9mm caliber handgun, a Ruger P95 9mm caliber handgun, and a Hi-Point JHP .45 caliber handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 1300 block of Van Buren Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 20-year-old Antonio Reginald Bailey, of Northwest, D.C., 21-year-old Herman Signour, of Southeast, D.C., and 25-year-old Anthony Trayon Bailey, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Nekko Kallum Johnson, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Probation Violation (Warrant), and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following people were arrested: 21-year-old Antonio Pernell Jones, of Oxon Hill, MD, and 30-year-old Kevin Anthony Oliver, of Southeast, D.C., for Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property, No Permit, Fugitive from Justice, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.   • A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2300 block of Raynolds Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, National Firearms Act, and Possession of Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3500 block of 6th Street, Southeast. CCN: 21-029-441
  • A Draco PAP M92 assault rifle was recovered in the 2300 block of Green Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Malik Jackson, Riverdale, MD, for Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside a Home or Business, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Smith & Wesson SD9VE 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of 10th Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Dejon Davis, of Temple Hills, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information October be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
